Rediscovering My Path:The Next Chapter
Rediscovering my Path ;The Next Chapter (part2)
I stayed at Hobbs House for 15 incredible years. From those early days, I watched Tom and his wife Anna, nurture not only the bakery but also their growing family. There were often moments that made me smile-like finding one of their baby's nestled in an empty bread basket at the end of a long day as we cleaned up after the rush. It was a beautiful testament to the life they were building around the bakery.
As time went on, I eventually started my own family. I vividly remember my eldest son as a toddler, sitting in a high chair at the end of the counter, happily munching on a gingerbread man while I finished my shift. It was a heartwarming sight, finishing up the last of the meringues in the oven whilst sharing those quiet moments together.
However, as the years went by, I realised it was time to move on. My journey at Hobbs House had been immensely fulfilling, but I felt a pull to explore new paths in my baking career and life. However, through those years, there are so many moments I want to share with you - too many to fit into one blog post. More of that to come later!
Today, I run a busy cafe in the beautiful cotswolds, where I do all the baking and cooking myself. and although I no longer work in a bakery, the demands of baking on a large scale haven't diminished. It's hard work, balancing the preparation of multiple cakes, pastries, and meals daily, while keeping up with a steady stream of customers. There are day's when I feel like I barely come up for air!
Recently I've faced significant challenges, including herniating 4 disks in my back, which has made it very difficult to keep up with the physical demands of the kitchen. This forced me to rethink the direction of my career. It's given me the opportunity to embrace a new chapter, one where I can continue sharing my passion in a different way.
Today, I'm focussing on creating digital courses and connecting with a community of home bakers. My goal is to inspire others to find joy in their own kitchens, to reconnect with the art of baking, and to discover the theraputic benefits that come from creating something beautiful. This shift in direction isn't just about adapting to my own circumstances, but also about building a community and sharing the love for a craft that has shaped my life in so many ways.
